Barely-acquainted newlyweds, Ashoke and Ashimal, leave Calcutta to start a new life in New York. There they start a family and the two children grow up as Americans, however the differences between the generations lead to conflict and misunderstanding. A wonderfully observed and touching story of family and change in the New World.
